Thanks Phil 👍 we checked on our caravan over winter and mince got into the front locker an eaten there way through a bag for life I left in there. The front locker floor has loads of big gaps in it and mines a 2018 swift too 👍

Just had to change our Jockey wheel tyre, Whilst backing off drive with motor mover the breakaway cable fell into wheel, damaged tyre and pulled on brakes flat spotting tyre. Found your video very helpful in performing the task 👍

Phil - another really useful video, some great ideas that will help me with ants while away. I’m lucky that I can store our camper in the garage, so I’ve bought an electronic rodent repeller that keeps them away. Prior to using this I had them nesting all over the garage, now there’s no sign of them. Keep up the good work ❤ Mike

We have not had a problem with mice in Desmond but we did in caravans until our cats started coming with us.

Hi Phil I’ve had mice in front locker they’d chewed at a piece of webbing I had in the locker. My 4 berth became 5 when I disturbed a mouse sleeping under the jockey wheel cover, thankfully no damage. Great help as always 👍

We use cotton balls with peppermint on them in the corners of the caravan, and ant powder around the steadies - the waste water pipes remain closed but I do put wire wool in them - so far we have not had any successful invaders. Steve

Interesting video Phil 👍. As Paul mentioned, never seen silicone with metal content before. I suppose it’s generally pest controllers that know about. The copper wool gives a neat finish around pipes and easy to take out if required. Thanks for the advice. Cheers, Rob & Gail 😀

Hi Phil, I've a 2020 Twinsport Flare with a silver metallic GRP body. Thanks to Autoglym the sides are still glossy. The roof however is oxidised and dull. Could you travel please to North Cheshire (home) to get it glossy again? I've tried Meguiars GRP restorer (by hand) but to no effect Thanks

Hi Phil. Great video and advice on the mice and rat problems we can all suffer. Copper wool is a fantastic idea and will look into that. Like you said, coming up once a week if storage, you should see any difference in your interior if they've been in, especially under the front cushions. Never heard of the silicone with metal bits in. Good idea, I think. You like to see if it works, tho. Again Great video and thanks for showing us everything you did in this video. Paul and Sarah

What the hell Phil, can’t believe you just suggested putting ant powder down on a holiday pitch. What about the next people to use the pitch who may have young children or pets!!! Plus you are leaving toxic chemicals behind in the environment. Strongly suggest you re edit this video ASAP.

Unless I've missed the detail, not sure where/how you've mounted the fan?

Always make sure your hose is food safe grade otherwise it will taste bad have you ever had a problem with the inline pressure reducing valve squeaking when building up pressure every time tap is closed

Just to add in Spain if you carry anything that extends the vehicle such as bike racks you need a hazard board attached, we also take a copy of any prescriptions for the medication we take, I just paid €1.32 for a litre of diesel from a Spanish supermarket but between €1.69 & €1.90 in France

As the long term owner of a 20 y.o., 2 berth Elddis thats a caravan design I would avoid.

Hi Phil, I managed to get my o rings fixed in 2 minutes with the pencil trick, but cant get the frictions pads back in past the o rings, they seem v v tight. Do you have any tips on that please?

Thanks for this video! Regarding disconnecting the caravan electrics on the Ferry - our caravan is 13yrs old and does not have electronic ATC. Is it still a good idea to disconnect?

Very timely video, thanks, as I am heading over the channel with my caravan for the first time next week. Its been a lot of hassle in terms of the documents as I drive and tow with a company car so had to have the company provide me with the v5c etc. Then I had to get a letter from them saying I had permission to use it in the country for the period of my holiday. Also one thing to note about the hi-viz vests, they need to be accessible without leaving the vehicle, i.e. not in the boot.

Talking of speeding, I had a work colleague who was hot footing it back to Calais late for the ferry and got pulled for speeding about 40km away from the port. The French police refused to let him continue and it was lucky that his wife could show she was insured otherwise they would have been stuck. Plus massive on the spot fine.

I had no idea about some of these issues so really useful. Didn't how realise how close I'd come.

Very informative video Phil, if I was going there’s a few things there I’d need to sort, reflective panels and fire extinguishers for one. We’ve had the interior of the caravan searched. I had to open every locker and lift beds. The GHIC card ( replacing EHIC) is something to consider giving health care at same level as local population within European Economic Area. There’s lots to consider and as you say forward planning is essential. Have a great Holiday 😁👍

Hi Phil great video,I have the same van and I noticed it wasn't sealed and thought it was odd because its a right water catcher.but this video reminds me of doing the same but I haven't noticed if it's doing any damage ....I will have to pop over and check.....cheers mate....steve.

Hi Phil the blue cap on the silicon is that to stop it going off? I always seem to be short of nozzles 🤦‍♂️ Good job it’s a real art applying silicone, sometimes I’m an Ace and others like a dog’s dinner and have to do it again 😂

Good video . All I would say the stress cracks on your window beware we bought a brand new Elddis xplore 402 total rubbish caravan from day 1. In the end we ended with stress cracks on the rear panel Elddis didn't want to know they don't warrant panels after 1st year so keep an eye your front window ....and a big tip stay away from Elddis if you ever decide to go there.

Well explained, but the pricing is an absolute rip off, I had the same over heating problem in my motorhome fridge last year so I purchased a 5" USB powered desk fan (£5 on Temu) which I will connect to a phone charger power pack and I can use my jump starter as a power supply if needed
